I have been working, with Steph, at Sports Physio Hwb, for the past couple of years, but only for a few hours a week. Since our recent move to our fab new clinic room here at Cattle Strength Gym (Felinfach), I’ve made the decision to get a lot more involved in the clinic.  Therefore, it’s probably about time to say a little bit about what I do:

I have been a Chartered Physiotherapist for around 20 years, specialising in musculoskeletal and sports medicine.  Always wanting to experience as many of the varied fields that this job has to offer, I’ve been very fortunate to  have worked in professional football, private practice, NHS, overseas and for the British military.

Whilst working for the military, as an Advanced Physiotherapist, I began my training in diagnostic ultrasound.  Completing a masters degree in 2019, being very fortunate to have been mentored by a Sports Medicine Consultant and a Consultant Radiologist, both of whom are two of the very best in Britain when it comes to musculoskeletal injury management and ultrasound. This enabled me to be able to confidently and accurately assess and identify the type, cause and treatment of a vast array of injuries.   I also have a number of years experience in injection therapy, particularly ultrasound-guided injections. Hopefully, this will be a service we will be able to offer in future.

My current working week is both enjoyable and varied, splitting time between the Sports Physio Hwb clinic, and regular ultrasound clinics in a number of radiology departments throughout Wales, including Bronglais, Glangwili, Abergavenny, Morriston & Newtown.  Although specialising in MSK, I also regularly scan soft-tissue lumps and bumps, rheumatology, deep vein thrombosis (DVTs), testes and baby hips.  This has been invaluable in helping recognise problems outside of the normal sport injury presentations.

In an exciting progression for the clinic, we plan to be add diagnostic ultrasound, to our expert physiotherapy assessment and treatment skills, here in the clinic very soon.

What I enjoy most about the work at Sports Physio Hwb, is being lucky enough to work alongside Steph with motivated patients who have a strong desire to do what it takes to rehabilitate their injuries and return to full fitness.

I look forward to working with you all.
