Musculoskeletal Podiatry

What is musculoskeletal podiatry?

MSK podiatry is the assessment and treatment of foot and ankle pain and injuries. This could be anything from an acute injury, to something that has been problematic over years.

At Sports Physio Hwb we are lucky to have Jack Loveday, clinical lead podiatrist for the West Wales region, to come to do Wednesday afternoon / evening clinics for us to fix any foot or ankle problems you might have without you having to travel further to Swansea or Cardiff for this service!

A musculoskeletal podiatry assessment involves an in depth discussion of the history of the issue, assessment of the mechanics of the foot and ankle and the anatomical structures involved, as well as any medical issues that may be associated.

Commonly treated conditions:

- Plantar Fasciitis (heel pain)

- Achilles tendon injuries

- Ankle pain

- Arch pain

- Big toe joint pain

- Forefoot pain

- Toe pain

- Arthritis

- Bunion

Examples of musculoskeletal podiatry treatment:

Jack is also trained in ultrasound scanning to accurately diagnose foot conditions, and can when appropriate can administer ultrasound guided injections to target and eliminate persistent foot problems.
